In order to make sustainable construction practically applicable, measurable and therefore comparable, various certification systems have been established in the real estate sector worldwide to address different markets and are constantly being developed further. Despite different focuses, all systems essentially consider the major topics of ecology, economy and user comfort across the life cycle.
To implement this holistic sustainability quality, the certification systems serve as a planning and optimization tool for the respective project teams, which is why it is advisable to integrate the criteria into the planning process as early as possible. The result of such planning is “blue buidlings”, which, with a low carbon footprint, low operating costs and high user comfort, generally have lower vacancy rates as well as better market and higher resale values. A planning certificate can be used for marketing purposes at an early stage, while the certificate for the completed property records the built qualities.
